1982 Large Royal Doulton Toby Mug "Macbeth" Shakespearean Collection Number D6667

Description:  This is a Beautiful hand-made and hand-decorated Figural mug by the Royal Doulton Company. This mug is titled "MACBETH" and is part of the Shakespearean Collection. Of course Macbeth is the famous Shakespearean tragedy published in the early 1600s. The Mug is shaped in the form of the face of a man with  a crown. He has a beard and a moustache. He is wearing a green cape with a large button on his shoulder made of a large ruby mounted in a gold bezel. The mug is nicely glazed and has very vivid colors. It has green, Flesh Tones, red, yellow, and Grays. The handle is shaped of three heads of men who were killed by Macbeth. The heads of the men have great detail and show great expressions of fear and angst. An uncommon and real nice piece which is very desirable by collectors of Toby Mugs. Size: ~6 5/8" high, 6 1/4" at its widest, wide, and the base is 4 5/8" by 3". The piece weighs almost 1 3/4 pounds.

Maker: Royal Doulton.

Marks: Royal Doulton Mark with a lion over a crown on top of a circle having four "D"s in its center and the words Made in England; Royal Doulton;  England around it. It has the words (c) Royal Doulton Tableware Limited 1982; D6667 below the mark. It is further marked The Shakespearean Collection; MACBETH; A Series of Hand-made Hand-decorated Character mugs by Royal Doulton all on the base. See the last photo for more details.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a rather unusual and real nice piece which is very desirable by collectors of Toby Mugs.
